Markell Lee, one of the area’s top linebackers, is going back home. He’s transferring from Corinth to West Point, which is where he went to school until ninth grade.
Scout.com originally reported Lee’s move. Lee’s father lives in Corinth, but his mother lives in West Point. Corinth coach Jimmy Mitchell said, “It was a deal when he needed to be down there.”
I’ve not yet been able to talk with Lee or West Point coach Chris Chambless.
Lee made 110 tackles, six sacks and three interceptions last season for the Warriors, helping them reach the Class 3A North Mississippi final. The 6-foot-5, 242-pound senior also played rush end for Corinth. He was a Daily Journal All-Area first team selection and a first team 3A all-state pick.
