Baseball: Will They Play?

UPDATE: Tish-Lafayette is rained out. They will play here at 6 Saturday, at Tish at 6 Monday, and at Tish at 6 Tuesday if needed.

UPDATE: Mooreville at Lewisburg has been postponed until 7 p.m. Saturday. Then a 4 p.m. start Monday at Mooreville, and they’ll play two if necessary. … Also, Ripley at Senatobia postponed until Saturday, with a 6 p.m. start at Senatobia. They’ll play at Ripley at 5 p.m. Monday, two if needed.

UPDATE: Vardaman at Ingomar has been moved up to 5 p.m. Most of the coaches have told me that they’re sticking to their normal schedule and expect to get their games in: DeSoto Co. at Tupelo (5:30), Tishomingo Co. at Lafayette Co. (6:00), New Albany at Vicksburg (6:00), East Union at Hamilton (4:00), Baldwyn at Ackerman (6:00) and Smithville at Calhoun City (4:00). As I said, Mooreville-Lewisburg is up in the air, and so is Ripley at Senatobia.

UPDATE: Mooreville at Lewisburg has been pushed back to 7 p.m., but Mooreville coach Rex Berryman doesn’t expect the game to be played. He’ll know for sure in a little while. Either way, Mooreville won’t be playing at home Saturday. If rained out today, Game 1 would be at Lewisburg at 7 p.m. tomorrow. If they play tonight, there will be no game Saturday because of an on-campus memorial service for a Mooreville student; there would be a double-header, if needed, at 4 p.m. Monday in Mooreville.

As of right now – about 1:45 p.m. – there have been no postponements of today’s Game Ones. New Albany’s already on the bus to Vicksburg, the longest trip for any of our teams today. We do have some new starting times, though:

• DeSoto Central at Tupelo, 5:30 p.m.

• East Union at Hamilton, 4 p.m.

• Smithville at Calhoun City, 4 p.m.

I’ll know even more within the next hour and will update this post. So stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed.

By the way, here’s what we had on today’s high school page:
