A quick breakdown of who did what last night. First, in baseball, we had 12 NeMiss teams win, six lose (three of those losses were to other area teams). Those hoping to fight off elimination tonight: New Albany (vs. West Lauderdale), Ripley (vs. Louisville), Amory (vs. Senatobia), Hickory Flat (vs. Vardaman), West Union (vs. Ingomar), and Calhoun City (vs. Myrtle).
In softball, Nettleton, Hamilton and Smithville won. Vardaman lost (to Smithville), as did two-time defending state champ East Webster (to Bogue Chitto). Softball resumes Saturday with Games 2 and 3 (if needed).
