First, here’s what we packed into today’s Daily Journal:

Nerves be gone: Tish Co. drops New Hope

Lone run enough for Nettleton win

Itawamba’s Miller among new QBs ready to take reins

The Coaching Q’s: Jason Cobb, Hamilton softball

I also did a story about coaches having to flip a coin to determine Game 3 sites. Here is an updated list of sites and start times for Saturday’s “if” games (Greenville St. Joe-Smithville will play two today if needed):

West Lauderdale at New Albany, 6 p.m.
Class 3A

A quick breakdown of who did what last night. First, in baseball, we had 12 NeMiss teams win, six lose (three of those losses were to other area teams). Those hoping to fight off elimination tonight: New Albany (vs. West Lauderdale), Ripley (vs. Louisville), Amory (vs. Senatobia), Hickory Flat (vs. Vardaman), West Union (vs. Ingomar), and Calhoun City (vs. Myrtle).

In softball, Nettleton, Hamilton and Smithville won. Vardaman lost (to Smithville), as did two-time defending state champ East Webster (to Bogue Chitto). Softball resumes Saturday with Games 2 and 3 (if needed).
