Tupelo Golden Wave basketball assistant Grant Pate was promoted to head coach on Tuesday after being approved by the school board.
Pate, 40, replaces David Ball, who resigned last month.
“Grant is just a quality guy with great character,” THS athletics director Danny Porter said. “He’s a true leader and a genuine person. We are very fortunate to have him as our head coach.”
Pate just completed his first year with the Wave. He also spent seven years on Rod Barnes’ staff at Ole Miss, serving as a floor coach, administrative assistant and Coordinator of Operations.
He also coached at Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello.
A 1990 graduate of Ole Miss, Pate received his Masters degree from West Alabama in 1995.
