Shocker in Saltillo

Saltillo knocked off Tishomingo County 10-9 tonight. Tish is the Daily Journal’s No. 2-ranked team, but it sure didn’t look like it. The Braves committed six errors, but they couldn’t do much with Saltillo starter Austin Burns until it was too late.

Tish scored four runs in the seventh inning, but it left the tying run on base. The Braves are 18-3 overall, 8-1 in Region 1-4A. Still in control there. Unranked Saltillo is 11-7, 4-3.

The Tigers were playing without coach Johnny Bolen, whose mother died Tuesday morning.

I think they’ll be alright. All teams have those ‘wake-up calls’ in the middle of the year. I had about a 99% chance that they wouldn’t go undefeated in 1-4A. Hopefully, the guys can finish out the division and hold for the #1 spot. Good job by Saltillo though by capitalizing on our mistakes.
