Bray to South Pontotoc

After 23 years at Vardaman, Mark Bray is trying something new. He is going to be the new head coach at South Pontotoc, and principal Tim West just called to tell me that Bray has received school board approval.

Bray’s record at Vardaman was 182-91, and he led the Rams to the Class 1A playoffs 20 times. South Pontotoc will have its third head coach in as many seasons. The school board showed Paul Dees the door after nine years there, and Jack Clark left after one season to take the Nettleton job.

The Cougars went 1-9 last season under Clark.
