Brad Gray to New Albany

Just got a call from New Albany Principal Jay Foster. The Bulldogs have hired Brad Gray as the new boys head coach. He replaces John Stroud, who stepped down to focus on coaching the girls.

Gray spent the last two years at Lewisburg, a new school in DeSoto County. He was the Hickory Flat coach from 2004-06, and he led the Rebels to the Class 1A final in 2005. He was named Daily Journal Coach of the Year that season.

Read more about it in Wednesday’s Daily Journal.

Dang. Nice Hire for New Albany. The best coach they have had since Harvey Childers was there in the mid 80’s.

Not that I really follow New Albany athletics, but figured I’d read it anyway. Isn’t it W.P. Daniel HS?

  3. Yes, technically, it’s W.P. Daniel, but everyone calls it New Albany, because who the heck is W.P. Daniel?

I don’t know. I’m stuck here in Tampa where EVERY school is named after a person. This wouldn’t be too bad in New Albany where there isn’t an abundance of schools, but trying to find Cecil W. Essrig Elementary school (seriously) gives you no clue as to where it might be located.
    Keep up the good work.

Does anybody knows his credentials as a coach? I know he coached HF when they went to Jackson in 2005. NA needs a good young coach willing to put in time to help develope these kids. They have alot of young talent.
